Local helping hands spark lower fire rating

By Dennis Ford

It took a lot of hard work and dedication from a lot of people to help us achieve a lower fire rating. At this time, I wish to extend my appreciation to anyone who contributed in any way. The volunteers, paid staff and Board of Commissioners put in numerous hours preparing for the rating and contribute in a variety of ways every day to help this department continue to improve.

For those who helped us practice and execute our water shuttles — Gene Posey, Bill Sanderson, the Choudrant Fire Department, Fellowship Baptist Church, Weyerhaeuser Trust Joist, Quincy Adams and the managerial staff, Martin Elshout and Louisiana Particle Board (formerly Weyerhaeuser) — thank you very much. This department is now known as the top in the state on water shuttles, and you played a vital role in that accomplishment.

Also thanks must go to Ruston Fire Department Chief Tornabene and his crew for covering for us while we were conducting our water shuttles.

Thank you, too, to Lincoln Parish Sheriff Mike Stone, dispatchers and deputies for their assistance. I also want to extend thanks to The Ruston Daily Leader for their coverage of this important issue. I also want to thank God, my family and the citizens of Lincoln Parish for their continued support and for allowing us to serve them. If I missed your name, don’t think I didn’t notice and appreciate your support.
